SEO Experiment: testing the value of TITLE attribute in links’ A tag

NOTE: this seo experiment is part of our strategy in the makeityourring diamond engagement rings seo contest and cheap engagement rings for women mini contest.

Many SEOs and seo guides used to suggest the title attibute’s optimization in external links to improve rankings with a given keyword.

This is a normal A tag:

Inside the tag you can specify some attributes, in this case TITLE and ALT are suitable for our purposes (ALT attrib, normally used for images, could contain keywords too: let’s test it!).

so, a heavy optimized A tag could be:

But… It makes sense to use this technique after the Google Panda update?
We are curious to discover it.

Now we will link 4 identical pages (without the keyword inside) in different ways, to see the effects.
The selected keyword is oettvotaiat, acronym of “our experiment to test the value of title attribute in A tag”, which returns 0 results in google.com

Cheap engagement rings for women is not an offer to buy discounted rings for women but is the name of the new head-to-head mini contest, with invitation only, organized by ShireeOdiz, diamond engagement rings designers, during their main seo contest called makeityourring diamond engagement rings.

The goal is to be the first on Google.com searching cheap engagement rings for women and the end of the challenge is in January 2012.
